Resources
Mālama Map
The Mālama Map is an interactive mapping tool designed to help residents of Hawaiʻi County find recycling and waste disposal facilities or pick up free mulch. The map allows users to search for locations by material type (i.e., HI-5 redemption centers, glass, cardboard, etc.) where they can drop off recyclable items and dispose of hazardous wastes such as electronics, tires, batteries, and oils that cannot be disposed of in the landfill.
Cultural Toolkit
This toolkit bridges the gap between Native Hawaiian worldview and Euro-American perspectives on environmentalism. It describes the ways that zero-waste initiatives and the revitalization of Hawaiian identity go hand in hand, and references activities and existing resources for individuals and families to learn and participate in.
