E Kaupē Aku nō i ka Hoe a Kō Mai!
“Put forward the paddle and draw it back.”

This month, we look to Mary Kawena Pūkuʻi’s proverb E kaupē aku nō i ka hoe a kō mai, which translates to put forward the paddle and draw it back, encouraging us to finish the work that has been started, and to complete it well.

Thanks to the Hilo community members and businesses who’ve participated in our outreach efforts thus far, our team of Zero Waste Hawaiʻi Island (ZWHI), Perpetual, and the County of Hawaii staff and volunteers. Through everyone's participation and collaboration, we have successfully completed the first draft of the System Design Document, which you can review HERE and submit feedback on HERE. We hope to collect as much feedback as possible before April 19, 2024, when we plan to edit the document for final review.

Here’s a list of links to check out about past accomplishments and future steps forward!
